This is a blog dedicated to all things travel. Often times, I find my inspiration to explore new places through design, blogs and conversations – so this is a place where tips and experiences are going to be shared. I hope it can be helpful to those looking for information and enjoyable for those of us who like to look at pretty pictures.

who am i?

My name is Kari Shimmel. I am a wife, (soon-to-be mom) new mom, friend, traveler, creative director and designer. My husband, Doug, and I love to explore new places and will plan adventures that can last for a few hours to a few weeks. Doug is spontaneous, thoughtful and always makes me smile. We have been married for 9 (wonderful) years and along the way I started to make travel guides for our trips (after a “what do you want to do” filled weekend in Toronto). We now use these guides to help us have options for where to eat, stay and what to do wherever we are exploring. It’s my attempt at successful spontaneity. We live in Michigan, right outside of Detroit and we have two long haired miniature dachshunds, Cole and Chloe, who often accompany us on our adventures. We anticipate our daughter (Maggie) being born in mid-October Our daughter, Maggie, was born October 15th and we can’t wait to share our love of travel with her.

When I am not traveling, I am a creative director at an ad agency and absolutely love what I do and the people I work with.
